IWS believes in the importance of maintaining standards-compliance whenever possible in our web design and development coding practices. What is standards compliance and why is it important for my website? If you haven't read about cross-browser compatibility, it might be best to read about that first in order to gain a better understanding of standards compliance. Now, let's start with a little history. Several years ago, when the World Wide Web was starting to become a popular international medium, an organization called the World Wide Web Consortium (or W3C for short) was formed in order to educate the public on web technologies and to set standards on coding practices for the design of web pages. Over time the W3C had developed recommendations on the way that coders should design web pages primarily so that the medium of the World Wide Web would maintain a consistency and therefore would have a more universal usability. Eventually these recommendations evolved into a set of standards established by the W3C for web design and development. At IWS we realize the importance of standards compliance; therefore, all IWS web design coding practices are structured around maintaining W3C standards whenever possible. By doing so, we are not only insuring a greater cross-browser compatibility for your website today, but we are insuring that your website will remain cross-browser compatible for the future. |
